Swimming Team To Face Millsaps In Home Dual Meet

Shreveport - The Centenary men's and women's swimming team will welcome Millsaps to town on Friday, Nov. 8 for a dual meet set for 4 p.m. at the Centenary Fitness Center. 

The Ladies placed fourth last weekend at the Hendrix Relays/Hendrix Classic in Conway, Ark. while the men finished sixth. 

Millsaps and Centenary are meeting for the second time this season as the Maroon and White opened its 2019-20 season last month with a sweep of the Majors in a dual meet on the road. The women won, 94-70 and the men won by a count of 61-47.

Sophomore Richard LaFleur (Lafayette, La.) had the best finish for Centenary in the meet on Saturday, placing third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:15.81. He was also eight in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.50.

Centenary recorded three third-place finishes on Friday highlighted by a time of 3:12.04 in the 300 breast by the trip of LaFleur, Mitchell Lulich (New Orleans), and Tripp Montgomery (New Iberia, La.).

The Ladies boasted five second-place finishes in relay action on Friday, including the meet-ending 400 free relay team of sophomore Brianna Serret (Alexandria, La.), senior Ellen Atkinson (Katy, Texas), junior Sarah Harrison (Alexandria, La.), and sophomore Madelyn Frederick (Slidell, La.) who finished in a time of 4:02.83.

Serret had a pair of third-place finishes on Saturday, in the 200 fly (2:18.76) and the 200 back (2:15.07). Three Ladies placed in the top five in the 200 breast, as the trio of Kaylin Swoboda (New Orleans) swam the event in a time of 2:34.96 to place third, Harrison (2:37.37 placed fourth, and senior Jessi Jordan (Dallas, Texas) finished fifth with a time of 2:38.61.
