Volleyball Swept at Southwestern on Saturday

Georgetown, Texas - The Centenary volleyball team was swept in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader by the Southwestern Pirates on Saturday, 3-0/3-0, at the Robertson Center.

The Ladies fell to 3-9 overall and 3-9 in SCAC play while Southwestern improved to 7-3 (7-3 SCAC) with the sweep.

The Pirates took the first set of the opening match, 25-14, and then won set two by a score of 25-21 and finished off the victory with a 25-21 win in the third set. In the second match, Southwestern posted consecutive 25-17 wins in sets one and two and then clinched the match with a 25-22 win in set three.

Freshman DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) had another solid day as she continued her impressive rookie season. She collected 36 digs including 22 in the second match. Freshman MB Caroline Richmond (Maequez, Texas) also had a great day as she posted 24 digs and 15 kills. Junior Outside Hitter Alyssa Davis (Van Alstyne, Texas) had 16 kills and 14 digs on the day.

Sophomore MB Liz Lowe (San Antonio, Texas) had eight digs and eight kills, junior DS/L Marichael Clarin-Jante (Houston, Texas) had 16 digs, and junior S/RS Rachel Demerjian (Glendora, Calif.) tallied 15 digs and 32 assists. Junior MB Elizabeth Epley (Nashville, Tenn.) collected nine kills and five digs.

Centenary recorded 30 kills in the first match and 31 in the second along with 51 digs in match one followed by an impressive 79 in match two. Southwestern posted 43 kills and 55 digs in match one and 41 kills and 80 digs in match two.

Centenary closes its regular season at home versus Colorado College on April 9 (5 p.m.) and April, 10 (1 p.m.) for its annual Senior Day match.
