Lawrenceville, Ga. – Junior Outside Hitter Alyssa Davis has been named to the 2020-21 All-SCAC Volleyball Third Team, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced on Friday.
Davis (Van Alstyne, Texas) becomes the first Centenary player to be named All-SCAC since her teammate and fellow junior, Rachel Demerjian (Glendora, Calif.), was named to the Second Team All-Conference squad in 2018. Desiree Frey earned Second Team honors in 2016 as Davis becomes the third Ladies' player to earn all-conference recognition in the division III era (2011-present).
"I can't think of a better player to receive this honor," said Centenary head coach Ashley McDonough. "Alyssa is the kind of leader who will outwork her competition and then make them pay for it."

She finished the season third in the conference in kills (166) and ranks 41st in the nation in division III in the category. She also averaged 3.19 kills per set and led the Ladies in kills and kills per set.
She also recorded 132 digs this season which ranked second on the team. She posted at least 12 kills seven times during her fantastic season and recorded a season-high 26 in the second match of a doubleheader versus Dallas at home on March 27. She had 13 kills in the first match for an impressive 39 that day.
Davis tallied at least 12 digs five times and recorded a season-high 27 at Texas Lutheran on March 6, adding 22 kills in the same match. On four occasions this season, she recorded at least 13 kills and at least 16 digs in the same match.
She helped lead the Ladies to top four rankings in the conference this season in total kills (570) and digs (978), ranking in the top 50 in the country in D3 in kills and top 35 in digs.
As a sophomore in 2019, she played in 24 matches and 88 sets and ranked fourth on the team with 260 kills. She led the team with 2.95 kills per set and had 244 digs. In her freshman season (2018), she played in 36 matches and 120 sets and led the team in kills with 353 and kills per set (2.94) along with 149 digs.
Davis was named to the SCAC Fall 2019 All-Sportsmanship team and to the SCAC Fall 2019 Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll. She currently second all-time in the division III era in kills, kills per set, and points per set, and ranks fourth in points and attack attempts, and seventh in hitting percentage.
