Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Centenary volleyball team will hit the road this weekend to face the Williams Baptist University Eagles in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday set for 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Southerland-Mabee Center.

The Ladies (5-4) recorded a home sweep over the Wiley College Lady Wildcats on Tuesday evening at the Gold Dome while the Eagles (2-11) lost at home, 3-2, to Philander Smith on Thursday evening. Centenary won for the fifth time in six matches after starting the season 0-3 and is now an impressive 11-2 in its last 13 home matches which includes nine sweeps.

Centenary recorded a doubleheader sweep over Williams Baptist at home last season as the two teams were meeting for the first time since the 2016 season. The all-time series is now tied 2-2.

The Ladies earned a hard-fought 26-24 win in set one versus Wiley on Tuesday, won set two 25-16, and then clinched the sweep with a 25-17 win in set three. They hit .136 for the match and recorded 60 digs, 37 assists, 39 kills, and seven aces. Senior DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) led the Ladies in digs with 16 and added an assist and an ace. Senior MB Liz Lowe (San Antonio, Texas) tallied 10 kills, three digs, and an ace.

Sophomore RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) had a solid match as she celebrated her birthday on Tuesday, finishing with eight digs, seven kills, four aces, and one assist. Junior MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) added 11 digs, and senior S/RS Rachel Demerjian (Glendora, Calif.) had an impressive night with a game-high 33 assists with nine digs, two kills, and an ace.

Sophomore OH/DS Kiara Liedy (Sugar Land, Texas) had six digs and an assist, sophomore MB Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) finished with seven kills, two digs, and an assist, freshman MB Susi Curtis (Haslet, Texas) had seven kills ad two digs, and fellow rookie, OH Jaeda Moreno (Weslaco, Texas) had six kills and three digs.

Proctor currently leads the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in digs per set (5.70) and ranks second in total digs (154). Demerjian leads the SCAC in aces per set (0.67) and ranks third in assists per set (7.40) while freshman S Meadow Smith (Mansfield, Texas) is fourth (6.59). Freshman MB/OH Jordan Wheeler (Baton Rouge, La.) is the current conference leader in blocks per set (1.40).

Smith and Demerjian have combined for 256 assists, and those two along with Lowe and St. Martin each have 10 or more aces apiece this season. Centenary, as a team, is currently ranked third in the conference in aces (70), fourth in digs (547), fifth in both assists (314) and kills (335), and sixth in total blocks (50).

Centenary remains on the road next Tuesday as the Ladies face the Texas A&M University-Texarkana Eagles for a second time this season after recording a 3-1 win over them back on Sept. 6 in their home opener.
