Gents Set For Road Contest At Austin College

The Gents (0-2, 0-1 SCAC) are playing their second-consecutive road game after falling 31-8 at Texas Lutheran University last Saturday in Seguin, Texas.
The 'Roos (0-2, 0-0 SCAC) lost at home To Rhodes College by a score of 49-13 last weekend after opening the season with a 26-20 loss at Kalamazoo on Sept. 7 and will be opening league play on Saturday. Centenary fell 43-20 to Hendrix College in its season opener at home.
"We are diligently preparing to face an Austin College team that brings back 14 starters from last season," said Centenary head coach Byron Dawson.
"Our focus must remain entirely on improving week by week. The goal remains unchanged: to master the fundamentals and play together as a cohesive team. We need to learn from our past mistakes and continue improving week by week."
The Gents are averaging 251.0 yards per game of total offense with 234.0 YPG rushing and are averaging 14.0 PPG.
Gents' Season Individual Statistical Leaders
PASSING: Freshman Kody Fuentes (Baytown, Texas) – 48 of 84 for 458 yards, 1 TD and 2 INT
RECEIVING: Junior WR Kobe Chambers (Greenwood, Miss.) – 14 catches for 173 yards
RUSHING: Junior RB Josh Ware (Shreveport, La.) – 12 rushes for 30 yards with 1 TD
TACKLES: Freshman LB Ronald Findley (Bernice, La.) – 12 total tackles (11 solo)
The Gents' defense, despite allowing 429 yards last Saturday, still received several outstanding individual performances. Sophomore DB Bryan Washington (Wylie, Texas) had an interception on Saturday night at Texas Lutheran which he returned 62 yards and finished with four solo tackles and six total tackles, good for second-most on the team.
Sophomore DL Kris Mesloh (Bossier City, La.) also had a solid all-around performance for the Gents as he recorded six total tackles, blocked a field-goal attempt, and forced a fumble. Mesloh had four solo tackles and two assisted tackles, and a half-sack. Freshman DB Delarrious Marshall (Shreveport, La.) also had a fumble recovery and junior Demetrus Gladney Jr. (Haughton, La.) had seven solo tackles, two tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one QB Hurry
Chambers had five catches for 67 yards as he averaged 13.4 yards per catch and rushed one time for four yards against the Bulldogs. Junior QB Zin'Tavious Smith (Coushatta, La.) had two rushing attempts for 20 yards and Fuentes finished 18-38 for 159 yards and one INT.
A Glance at the 'Roos:
Austin College was picked to finish fourth in the preseason SCAC poll, only head of Lyon College.
The 'Roo are averaging 311.5 yards per game on offense and average 16.5 PPG. They average 170.0 yards rushing and pass for 141.5.
Tony Joe White, in his second season, is the head coach of the 'Roos.
