Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: March 17 Edition

Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: March 17 Edition

Hey Ladies Fans! It's Sophomore, Madison McCary here with this week's gym talk!

We had a jam-packed week full of hard work with a whole lot of fun. Last week we finished 3rd against OU and TWU and this week we geared up for the best (and most sad) meet of the season to recognize our beloved seniors (Sierra Ponder, Jerrica Harris, and Jenny Jackson) on senior night!!

Despite a loss against Texas Woman's University, our Ladies did an outstanding job on senior night, receiving our highest score of the season with a 192.3! Words cannot describe how proud I am of the hard work and dedication they have put into our team and this sport. This is also our highest score Centenary gymnastics has had since 2015!  We had our Ladies showing out and giving us more season high team scores, with the bars stars giving us a 48.225 (also the highest since 2015) and the beam queens finishing out with a 48.575!! We had FOUR career high individual beam scores (Kennedy Stephens, Kendall Knaps, Jerrica Harris, and Rylie Molina), TWO floor career highs (Jerrica Harris, Kendall Huff), TWO vault career highs (Sierra Ponder, Izzy Plaza), and ONE career high and TWU season Highs on Bars (Kendall Knaps, Sierra Ponder, Xian Baumgartner)! Bars was full of nailed releases and beam was full of stuck series' along with multiple stuck dismounts on both events. It was the little details we have worked hard on at practice, that we were able to receive these well-deserved scores!

This meet was so special because we put it all out on the floor to just have fun and give our seniors an incredible night to remember. We ended the night with a tribute to our 3 seniors and their time at Centenary - I may or may not have shed a few tears, along with everyone else in the Dome. All in all, this senior night was one for the books and one our seniors will remember forever!

Thanks for tuning in to this week's gym talk and be sure to tune in next week for more new on Ladies Gymnastics!

Catch you Later!
