
Men's Basketball Set to Face Colorado College at Home
The Centenary men's basketball team will face the Colorado College Tigers in a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contests with the first game set for 6 p.m. Monday at the Gold Dome.

The Gents (4-2) had their season-high three-game winning streak snapped on Jan. 30 in their most recent game as they fell to the University of Dallas 67-60, in Irving, Texas. Centenary earned a split during the weekend after a 76-73 victory the night before. The Gents are an impressive 14-2 in their last 16 SCAC games dating back to Jan. 25, 2020.
Colorado College enters Monday's game at 0-4 on the season. The Tigers were swept in a pair of games last weekend at home versus Southwestern and fell twice to Trinity to open their season last month. The Gents and Tigers split their series last season as Centenary claimed an 83-75 home overtime win and the Tigers won 72-67 on their home court.
Centenary, which has won six of its last seven home games overall and the Gents are 11-2 at home dating back to the beginning of the 2019-20 season. The Maroon and White enter Monday's game as one of the top defensive clubs in the SCAC, ranking first in turnover margin, third in the conference in scoring defense and field goal percentage defense, and fourth in steals. Centenary allows just 67.0 PPG and ranks second in offensive rebounds and is second in the league in free-throw percentage at 71.1 %.
Sophomore forward Seth Thomas (Kilgore, Texas) is having a brilliant season so far as he enters Monday's action fifth in the SCAC in scoring, averaging 15.3 points per game and ranks second in rebounding (10.0/game). He leads the league in defensive rebounds, is second in steals and seventh in free-throw percentage. Thomas has recorded a double-double in four of Centenary's six games this season and only failed to score in double figures once. He has scored 15 or more four times this season including a career-high 24 points at Schreiner on Jan. 22. Thomas was named the SCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week and named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week following that performance.
Sophomore guard Ralph Johnson (New Iberia, La) led the Gents last Saturday versus Dallas with a season-high 23 points on 8 of 16 shooting in 37 minutes. Johnson, the 2019-20 SCAC Newcomer of the Year, nearly reached his career high of 28 points set last season. He scored in double figures for the fourth time this season and for the 19th time in his career. He added five rebounds on Saturday with an assist and a steal and made a pair of treys. Johnson ranks eighth in the conference in assists and 12th in free-throw percentage. He is second on the team in scoring (10.7 PPG) and leads the team in assists per game averaging 3.2.
Sophomore forward Neil Hawkins (Titusville, Fla.) averaged 6.7 PPG, fourth on the team, and 5.8 rebounds per game, second on the team. Hawkins ranks third in the SCAC in offensive rebounds. Junior guard Kile Mingo (Cypress, Texas) is having a solid season as he averages 10.0 PPG and 3.7 rebounds per game, both of which rank third on the team. Mingo has reached double digits three times this season. He scored 46 in three games from Jan. 22-29 against Schreiner and Dallas and has made at least two three-point baskets in a game four times this season. Mingo is tied for third in the conference in three-point field goals made this season.
