Gents Golf Tied for Fifth, Pair of Ladies in Top-5 at Pinecrest Intercollegiate

LONGVIEW, Texas - After two rounds on the men's side, the Gents sit in a three-way tie with Dallas and host LeTourneau, while juniors Taylor Adair and Jessica Varner both rank in the top-5 for the Ladies after the first day of the Pinecrest Intercollegiate Monday afternoon, March 12.

After one round on the women's side, Varner sits tied for the lead with Savannah Pinson of Bethany College. Both golfers fired a round of 74 (+2). Varner leads the field in both par-3 scoring (even) and par-5 scoring (-2). Adair sits fourth after a round of 77 (+5) and is one of only six golfers (along with Varner) to tally multiple birdies on day one.

Meanwhile, after a pair of rounds, the Gents are tied for fifth with a total of 605 (+37). Freshman Austin Craig shot identical rounds of 73 and is sixth with a +4 score. Meanwhile, sophomore Reed Balcerowicz, freshman Harrison John, and junior Edvard Granrud are tied for 22nd, tied for 24th, and tied for 27th, respectively. After an opening round of 72 (+1), Balcerowicz carded an 80 (+9) in the final round. John, who shot a 77 (+6) in the morning, improved by a stroke in the afternoon. Granrud improved four strokes from round one, turning in a 79 (+8) and a 75 (+4) for a +12 total for the tournament.

Sophomore Taylor Wells rounds out the Gents contingent with rounds of 85 (+14) and 83 (+12) and sits 53rd with a +26 total.

The Centenary Golf teams close out the weekend at the Pinecrest Intercollegiate Tuesday, March 13.
