Gents Golf Finishes Seventh in Final SCAC Tune-Up

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - In the final competition before the Southern Collegiate Conference Championships next week, the Centenary Gents Golf Team finished seventh of 10 teams with a two-round total of 650 (+90) in the Virginia McCoy Intercollegiate at the par-70 National Golf Club of Kansas City Monday and Tuesday, April 16-17.

Sitting in eighth after day one, the Gents were able to edge out Mid-Atlantic Christian by a single stroke. Centenary also finished ahead of Fontbonne (705, +145) and Robert Morris (Ill.) (764, +204). Host Park University won with a 607 (+47).

Sophomore Reed Balcerowicz tied for the fifth-lowest final round, shooting a 75 (+5). He finished the tournament tied for 20th with a 159 (+19).

Sophomore Taylor Wells and junior Edvard Granrud tied for 35th with a 166 (+26). After firing Centenary's best score in round one with a 79 (+9), freshman Austin Craig shot 90 (+20) in round two to finish tied for 40th with a 169 (+29).

Rounding out the field for Centenary was freshman Harrison John, who finished 45th with a 176 (+36).

Sophomore Gabe Rodriguez competed as an individual and finished 42nd with a total of 171 (+31).

The Centenary Ladies and Gents teams close out the season Monday and Tuesday, April 23-24, at the SCAC Championships. The Championship will be contested at the Panther Trail Golf Course in The Woodlands, Texas.
