Temple, Texas - The Centenary men's golf team shot a 28-over par 308 on Monday in round one of the Mary Hardin-Baylor Fall Intercollegiate as the Gents are in 11th place entering the final round at Sammons Park Golf Club.

The tournament concludes on Tuesday with the final 18 holes beginning at 9 a.m. at the par-70 course. The University of Texas at Dallas is the team leader after one day, as the Comets shot a 4-under par 276. East Texas Baptist University is one shot behind the Comets at 3-under 277, and the host Mary Hardin-Baylor sits at 1-under 279.

LeTourneau is fourth (+7 – 287), Trinity and MHB's "B" team are tied for fifth at 10-over par 290, Concordia (TX) is seventh (12-over 292), McMurry is eighth (+16 – 296), Howard Payne is ninth (+18 – 298), and Concordia's "B" team is 10th at 25-over par 305, three shots ahead of the Gents.

Junior Andrew Bennett (Bossier City, La.) shot the Gents' lowest round of the day as he turned in a 3-over par 73 and is tied for 28th place. Freshman Jeffrey Borchert (Katy, Texas) shot a 6-over par 76 and his collegiate debut and is tied for 44th place, and junior Ricky Blair (Bossier City, La.) is tied for 53rd after shooting an 8-over 78.

Freshman Colton Mayer (Heath, Texas) joined Borchert in making his Gents' debut on Monday and shot an 11-over par 81 and is tied for 67th. Sophomore Tyler Jones (Stonewall, La.) is 70th after a 14-over par 84 and senior Devan Martin (Watson, La.) is 74th after carding a 17-over par 87.

Tyler Durden of UT-Dallas is the individual leader at 3-under par 67, one shot ahead of ETBU's Emmett Ely (2-under par 68). Four players are tied at 1-under par for third place and nine players carded an even-par 70 and are tied for seventh.

Centenary will face Hendrix and Millsaps in a tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Black Bear Golf Club in Delhi, La. and then the Gents wrap up their fall season in the Crusader Invitational Oct. 24-25 hosted by the University of Dallas at the WinStar Golf Club in Thackerville, Okla.
