Gents Open Season At The Opener at Mississippi College on Friday

Clinton, Miss. – The Centenary men's cross country team will begin its season this weekend as the Gents compete in The Opener at Mississippi College on Friday at 6 p.m. at Choctaw Trails.

The meet begins at 5:30 p.m. with the women's 5K but Centenary will only have its men's team in action on Friday. The field is strong as five division 1 schools will compete along with a pair of D2 schools, four D3 schools including Centenary, and one school each from NAIA and NJCAA.

"The men are excited to be able to compete for the first time as a Centenary Cross Country team," said head coach Joseph Moses Jr.

"Our team is made up of all freshmen, but they are a talented group. Our biggest focus has been to just be able to get out there and compete so we can officially get the season started. Our top runner to keep an eye will be Connor Irvin (Lafayette, La.). He has a lot of solid talent coming out of high school so with a little more work he is anticipated to be a standout for us."
