Cross Country Set For SCAC Championships On Saturday

Georgetown, Texas - The Centenary men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

Southwestern University will serve as host and the set up will consist of the old campus golf course and the area around the current athletic complex. Eight of the nine SCAC member schools will compete alongside Centenary – the host Pirates as well as Colorado College, Dallas, Schreiner, St. Thomas, Texas Lutheran, and Trinity. The women will begin the day at 8:30 a.m. followed by the men at 9:30 a.m.

Centenary was last in action on Oct. 14 in the Tiger Invitational hosted by East Texas Baptist University, which was highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the women's 6K run by sophomore Madeline Vacula (Belton, Texas). Vaula ran a time of 25:22.2 and finished ahead of 30 other runners.

The Maroon and White was back in action for the first time in over a month as Centenary last competed in the Texas A&M-Texarkana University Collegiate XC Invitational on Sept. 9. Vacula finished third overall in the Women's 5000 meter run with a time of 21.15.0 in Texarkana. Freshman Connor Irvin (Lafayette, La.) and Vacula will represent Centenary on Saturday.
