Roberts Earns Top-30 Finish In Hal Sutton Invitational

Bossier City, La. - The Centenary golf teams completed their annual home tournament, the Hal Sutton Invitational, on Tuesday highlighted by a third-place finish from junior Andrew Bennett (Bossier City, La.) at The Golf Club at Stonebridge.

The Gents finished in eighth place at 66-over par 642 after shooting a 31-over 319 in Tuesday's final round following a 35-over 323 on Monday. Freshman Kaylee Roberts (Watonga, Okla.) was the lone member of the Centenary women's team to compete as she played as an individual and finished in 27th place at 74-over par 218. She shot rounds of 104-114.

Blinn College won the men's team title at 37-over par 613, finishing three shots ahead of its "B" team (40-over 616). Texas Lutheran University and Tyler Junior College tied for third place at 47-over 623, and Louisiana Christian University, the day one leader, finished fifth at 51-over par 627.

Jacksonville College finished sixth (53-over par 629), Hardin-Simmons University placed seventh (56-over 632), Millsaps College finished ninth (75-over 651) and Belhaven University finished 10th at 107-over par 683.

Texas Lutheran's Tobey Willis won the men's individual title as he shot even par (144) for the tournament with rounds of 73-71. Tyler JC's Max Reynolds was second at 2-over par 146, two shots off the lead, and Bennett was one shot behind him (3-over par 147) after shooting a 4-over 76 on Monday and then fired a 1-under 71 in Tuesday's final round.

Bennett continued his impressive play as he earned a runner-up finish in the Pinecrest Invitational last week, winding up just one shot shy of his first-career individual title.  Bennett now has one runner-up, a pair of top five finishes, and five top-10 finishes in his career.

Tyler JC and Hardin-Simmons tied for the women's team title and Tyler was awarded the team win via tiebreaker based on a lower score by its fifth player. Sarah Hodson of Mississippi College beat Tyler's Jordan Davis in a playoff – one hole to win the women's individual title. Mississippi College finished third (+99 – 675), Blinn finished fourth (+123 – 699) and TLU placed fifth (+183 – 759).

Senior Devan Martin (Watson, La.) recorded the Gents' second-best finish (+ 19 – 163) after shooting rounds of 84-79. Freshman Jeffrey Borchert (Katy, Texas) shot rounds of 85-81 to finish at 22-over par 166 to tie for 32nd place with junior Ricky Blair (Bossier City, La.). Blair shot rounds of 78-88.  

Sophomore Tyler Jones (Stonewall, La.) was one of four Gents to play as an individual and was the top finisher among the four as he finished 46th at 31-over par 175 (92-83). Freshman Hahn Bridges (Sterlington, La.) tied for 50th place at 37-over par 181 (92-89), freshman Colton Mayer (Heath, Texas) finished 54th at 55-over par 199 (105-94) and freshman Parker Christensen (Castle Rock, Colo.) shot rounds of 122-131 to finish at 10-9-over par 253 to finish 55th.

Next up for the Gents is the West Region Invitational April 3-4 at Berry Creek Golf Club in Georgetown, Texas. The Ladies will next be in action April 17-18 at Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville, Texas.
