Men's Golf Opens Play In Battle of Camp Bowie In Texas Friday

Brownwood, Texas – The Centenary men's golf team will compete in the Battle of Camp Bowie at Brownwood Country Club this weekend hosted by Howard Payne University.

The tournament begins on Friday with 36 holes followed by 18 holes on Saturday and a final round of 18 holes on Sunday. The event is the first of the spring season for the Gents after they finished fifth at the Tempest Intercollegiate in Gladewater, Texas last October.

Centenary's lineup this weekend will consist of freshman Richard Polan, senior Brodey Warner (Brookeland, Texas), senior Reed Balcerowicz (Crosby, Texas), senior Taylor Wells (Shreveport), junior Harrison John (Lafayette, La.), and senior Gabe Rodriguez (Bossier City. La.). All six Gents will compete in stroke play with the top four scores counting in round one and then all six compete in match play during the weekend.

Warner was the Gents' top finisher at the Tempest back in October as he placed third overall after shooting a final-round 76 and shot 79-72-76 – 227 for the tournament. The Maroon and White had a successful fall season as they claimed the team title at the Louisiana College Fall Invitational at Links on the Bayou Golf Course in September. Polan tied for second in that event and Warner, Balcerowicz, and John all placed in the top 10. The Gents now have had five golfers earn top-10 finishes this season.

Next up for the Gents following this weekend's tournament is the Pinecrest Intercollegiate at Pinecrest Country Club in Longview, Texas hosted by LeTourneau University on March 2-3.

Centenary will host the annual Hal Sutton Invitational at The Golf Club at Stonebridge in Bossier City March 22-24.
