Longview, Texas – The Centenary men's golf team will compete in the Pinecrest Intercollegiate hosted by LeTourneau University on Monday and Tuesday at the par-71, 6,923-yard Pinecrest Country Club.
An 8:30 a.m. shotgun start is set for both days and Centenary will be joined by the host LeTourneau YellowJackets, Rhodes College, East Texas Baptist, Louisiana College, Murray State College and Jacksonville College. Results will be posted on Golfstat at the conclusion of each day.
The Gents defeated Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference member Schreiner, 5-1, on Feb. 16 in the final round of the Battle of Camp Bowie to finish in fifth place in match play competition at Brownwood Country Club, hosted by Howard Payne University in their most recent action.
The Gents also beat host Howard Payne during the event as it was the first action of the spring for the Maroon and White since a fifth-place finish at the Tempest Intercollegiate in Gladewater, Texas last October.
Centenary's lineup this week will be senior Reed Balcerowicz (Crosby, Texas), senior Brodey Warner (Brookeland, Texas), freshman Richard Polan (Brno, Czech Republic), junior Harrison John (Lafayette, La.), and senior Gabe Rodriguez (Bossier City. La.). Senior Taylor Wells (Shreveport) will compete as an individual.
Balcerowicz and Warner each shot 2-over 74s in the first round last month at the Battle of Camp Bowie for the team's two lowest rounds, and Balcerowicz fired an impressive 2-under 70 in round two and Rodriguez posted an even-par 72
"We are just looking to continue the climb," said Centenary head coach Emlyn Aubrey.
"This week has been great weather so no excuses for lack of preparation. We must start strong and play hard for all 54 holes."
Centenary will host the annual Hal Sutton Invitational at The Golf Club at Stonebridge in Bossier City March 22-24.
