Gents Finish 13th In Abbreviated Crusader Invitational

Thackerville, Okla. - The Centenary men's golf team finished in 13th place on Tuesday in the abbreviated Crusader Invitational hosted by the University of Dallas at the WinStar Golf Club.

The Gents' final tournament of the fall was shortened to just 18 holes due to inclement weather. The original schedule called for 36 holes and a final 18 on Tuesday but the weather did not cooperate, as Monday saw no action. Centenary shot a 45-over par 333 while LeTourneau University shot a 3-over par 291 to win the team title. Kaiden Schneider of LeTourneau won the individual title after shooting a 2-under par 70. ETBU's Michael Milstead was one shot back at 1-under par 71 and LeTourneau's Corbin Barton and Schreiner's Evan Perez tied for third after shooting even par.

The University of Texas at Dallas finished as runner-up, seven shots behind LeTourneau at 10-over par 298. Schreiner finished third (+ 11 – 299), Southwestern (+12 – 300), and East Texas Baptist finished fifth at 14-over par 302. Howard Payne finished sixth (16-over par 304), Trinity finished seventh (18-over par 306), Dallas placed eighth at 20-over par 308, Concordia (TX) was ninth at 25-over 313, St. Thomas finished 10th (+ 30 – 318), Texas Lutheran 11th (+ 31 – 319), Hendrix finished 12th at 36-over par 324 – nine shots ahead of the Gents.

Centenary was back in action for the first time since a tri-match versus Hendrix and Millsaps on Oct. 1 at Black Bear Golf Club in Delhi, La. as the Maroon and White shot a 16-over par 304 to win the match and finish seven shots ahead of the Majors and nine in front of Hendrix.

Junior Andrew Bennett (Bossier City, La.) was the Gents' top finisher on Tuesday as he shot a 5-over par 77 to tie for 28th place. Junior Ricky Blair (Bossier City, La.) and freshman Colton Mayer (Heath, Texas) tied for 62nd place after each shot an 11-over par 83. Sophomore Tyler Jones (Stonewall, La.) finished 71st after shooting a 16-over par 88. Senior Devan Martin (Watson, La.) shot a 24-over 96 to finish 73rd. Freshman Hahn Bridges (Sterlington, La.) withdrew.
