Kerrville, Texas - The Centenary men's and women's golf teams tee off in the 2023 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Monday and Tuesday at Riverhill Country Club.

The men will play 36 holes on Monday and their final 18 on Tuesday while the women will play 18 each day. The men will play 54 total holes while the women will play 36. Centenary is joined by Dallas, Schreiner, Southwestern, St. Thomas, Texas Lutheran, and Trinity. The tournament begins at 7:40 a.m. with the first men's groups off of No. 1 and at 7:45 a.m. off of No. 10. The first women's groups will tee off at 8:40 a.m. on No. 1 and then 8:45 a.m. on No. 10.
The Gents are coming off of an eighth-place finish in the West Region Invitational at Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown, Texas on April 4. Centenary shot a 102-over par 966 for the event (31-over par 319 in the final round after shooting a 40-over par 328 in the first round and a 319 in the second round). Junior Andrew Bennett (Bossier City, La.) was the top finisher for the Gents as he tied for 26th place after shooting a 21-over par 237 which included a final round 7-over 79. Bennett also shot identical rounds of 79 in the first and second rounds. Freshman Jeffrey Borchert (Katy, Texas) tied for 32nd place at 23-over par 239 after shooting rounds of 85-78-76. His 4-over 76 was the Gents' lowest round on day two.
Junior Ricky Blair (Bossier City, La.) finished 40th after shooting a 32-over par 248 (81-79-88), freshman Hahn Bridges (Sterlington, La.) finished 41st at 34-over par 250 (83-83-84), and senior Devan Martin (Watson, La.) finished 42nd at 35-over par 251 (86-85-80).
Freshman Kaylee Roberts (Watonga, Okla.) will compete as an individual this week as she will be the lone member of the Centenary women's team at the event. She also played as an individual in the Ladies' most recent tournament, the Hal Sutton Invitational, last month in Bossier City and finished in 27th place at 74-over par 218. She shot rounds of 104-114.
Bennett finished 19th at this event last season after shooting 17-over par 233. He shot a 2-over par 74 in the final round, his lowest of the tournament. Blair finished in a tie for 30th at 26-over par 242, Martin finished 34th at 29-over 245, and Jones shot a 58-over par 274 to finish 41st.
The Gents' lineup this week is Bennett, Borchert, Blair, Martin, Bridges, and sophomore Tyler Jones (Stonewall, La.) as Borchert and Bridges make their debuts in the SCAC Championships. The Gents finished seventh last season while the women placed sixth.
