Varner Shoots Third-Lowest Final Round, Nabs another Top-10 Finish

MONROE, La. - Junior Jessica Varner shot a final round 74 (+2), the third-best final round of the tournament, and finished tied for eighth with a three-round total of 231 (+15) in the ULM Fred Marx Invitational, hosted at the par-72, 6,157-yard Bayou Desiard Country Club in Monroe, Louisiana.

The only NCAA Division III athlete in the 12-team field of Division I teams, Varner finished first among the 11 players competing as individuals. Her 10 birdies for three rounds was the highest among any individuals, and she shot even par on the par-4 13th for the tournament, rated the toughest hole of the week. Her birdie in round two was one of only four for the entire tournament on that hole.

After an opening round 81 (+9) - in which she shot even par for the final eight holes - Varner followed that up with a second-round 76 (+4).

With the finish, Varner has now placed in the top-10 in 15-of-18 collegiate tournaments for her career - including the last 13-of-14.
