Ladies Finish Seventh In University of Dallas Crusader Invitational

Thackerville, Okla.  The Centenary women's golf team finished shot a final-round 113-over par 401 on Tuesday to finish in seventh place in the University of Dallas Crusader Invitational at the par-72 WinStar Golf Course.

The Ladies, playing in their final tournament of the fall season, entered Tuesday's final round in fifth place after shooting a 96-over par 384. UT Dallas won the event at 50-over par 626, 22 shots better than second-place East Texas Baptist University.

The host Crusaders of Dallas finished third at +131 707, Hardin-Simmons finished fifth at +168 744, Schreiner placed sixth (+201 777), and Howard Payne finished eighth behind the Ladies at +224 800. Karen Alvarez of UT Dallas claimed the individual title as she shot an even-par 144 (71-73) to finish eight shots ahead of her teammate, Sofia Trevino (+8 152 (79-73).

Centenary freshman Kiley Smith (Fort Worth, Texas) was the Ladies' top finisher as she shot a final-round 18-over par 90 to finish in 17th place. Smith was tied for 13th after a 15-over 87 on Monday in the opening round. Senior Abigail Hayes (Plano, Texas) shot a 95 on Tuesday which followed a 97 on Monday and ended in a tie for 31st place.

Senior Lindsay Strohm (McKinney, Texas) finished 33rd after shooting 94-103 (+53 197), sophomore Madison Wing (Shreveport, La.) finished 40th after rounds of 106 and 113 to end with a +75 219 total. Freshman Nia Stewart (Ellenwood, Ga.) shot an 87-over 159 on Monday and followed that with a 145 on Tuesday to finish 44th at +160 304.

Centenary's complete spring schedule will be announced soon. The Ladies will host the Hal Sutton Invitational, their annual home tournament in March at The Golf Club at Stonebridge in Bossier City.
