Ladies Finish Fifth At MUW Invitational

Columbus, Miss. - The Centenary women's golf team finished fifth in the MUW Invitational on Tuesday at Elm Lake Golf Course.

The Ladies shot a final-round 97-over par 385 after a 95-over 383 in Monday's opening round to finish at +192 – 768 for the two-day event hosted by Mississippi University for Women at the par-72, 6,012-yard course.

William Carey University won the team title after shooting a 23-over par 599 to finish 14 shots ahead of Loyola University (NO). Faulkner finished third at + 148 – 724 and the host Owls placed fourth at + 171 – 747. Abigail Wickham of William Carey claimed medalist honors as she shot even-par 144 (71-73) to finish one shot ahead of runner-up Madison Bates of Loyola (74-71 – 145). Wickham was the only golfer to finish at or under par for the event.

Senior Abigail Hayes (Plano, Texas) recorded the Ladies' best finish as she shot a 36-over par 180 to place 17th. She shot a 17-over par 89 on Monday and a 19-over par 91 in Tuesday's final round. Hayes recorded her 12th top-25 career finish and has now done so in nine of her last 10 tournaments.

Freshman Kiley Smith (Fort Worth, Texas) was right behind Hayes, finishing 18th after shooting a 43-over par 187. She shot a 17-over par 89 on Monday and a 26-over 98 on Tuesday. Smith earned her third-straight top-20 finish as she continues her impressive rookie season. Senior Lindsay Strohm (McKinney, Texas) and sophomore Madison Wing (Shreveport, La.) finished 20th and 21st.

Next up for the Ladies is the annual Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on April 18-19 at Vaaler Creek Golf Course in Blanco, Texas.
