Ladies Finish Sixth At SCAC Championships

Blanco, Texas – The Centenary women's golf team finished sixth at the 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships as the Ladies played their second and final round at the par-72, 5,855- yard Vaaler Creek Golf Club.

The Ladies, who entered the day sixth after Monday's opening round, shot a 103-over par 391 on Tuesday after a 116-over par 404 on Monday to finish at + 219 – 795. Trinity claimed the team title as the Tigers finished at 51-over par 627.

Southwestern finished second, St. Thomas third, Dallas fourth, and Schreiner fifth. Texas Lutheran did not record a team score as the Bulldogs only had one golfer competing this week. Trinity's Kiona Hsiu won the individual title as she shot a 4-over par 148 to finish four shots ahead of runner-up Kimberly Burch of Dallas.

Freshman Kiley Smith (Fort Worth, Texas) was the Ladies' top finisher as she shot rounds of 94 and 90 to tie finish in 24th place at 40-over par 184. Senior Abigail Hayes (Plano, Texas) finished 27th at 43-over par 187 after shooting rounds of 96-91. Hayes just missed her 13th top-25 career finish and has now done so in 10 of her last 11 tournaments as she was a model of consistency the last two seasons.

Senior Lindsay Strohm (McKinney, Texas) and sophomore Madison Wing (Shreveport, La.) tied for 31st place at 68-over par 212. Strohm and Wing each shot identical rounds of 107 and 105 this week.
