The Ladies (3-0) remained undefeated on the season with a 4-0 shutout victory over the Mississippi University for Women Owls in non-conference play on Monday in Columbus, Miss. St. Thomas is opening its regular season on Friday.

The SCAC released its annual Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday and the Ladies, despite returning a wealth of talent, are predicted to finish sixth in the conference this season with 29 points while St. Thomas is picked fourth, tied with Texas Lutheran, with 30 points. Trinity with 63 points and seven first-place votes is predicted to win the regular-season title.

Centenary scored a pair of goals in each half to cruise to the victory on Monday in their first action in 15 days after shutting out Piedmont at home on Feb. 7 in its previous match. The Ladies have now outscored the opposition, 9-1, this season and have won 19 of their last 22 matches dating back to the beginning of last season and are 9-2 in their last 11 road matches.

The Ladies wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard as sophomore midfielder Celeste Muniz (Denton, Texas) scored her first goal of the season and second of her career just 1:34 into the match. Muniz found the net following a corner kick and was assisted by freshman forward Daisy Acosta (Deer Park, Texas). Just over five minutes later, the Ladies struck again as junior Gabby McDonald (Pasadena, Texas) scored an unassisted goal to make it 2-0. The goal was McDonald's second of the season and fifth of her career after scoring in the second half of the win over Piedmont on Feb. 7.

Sophomore forward Avery Gilbert (League City, Texas) scored her third goal of the season in the 72nd minute to make it 3-0. Freshman midfielder Jordyn Ambrose (Allen, Texas) scored the first goal of her young career as she recorded the Ladies' fourth goal of the game in the 83rd minute.

Senior goalkeeper Maggie Pitcher (San Antonio, Texas) started and played another solid game for the Ladies as she was on the field for all 90 minutes and made one save. Pitcher earned her eighth career shutout and now has 133 career saves, third-most in program history in the division III era.

The Ladies edged the Celts, 2-1, at home last season in the only previous meeting between the schools. Gilbert scored the game-winning goal late in the second half, her first-career goal and lone goal scored last season. Gilbert leads the team in goals this season with three, scoring one in each match so far.

The Ladies will play their first home conference match against Austin College on March 6 at 6 p.m. and then host Mississippi University for Women in a rematch on March 9 at 5 p.m. and return to SCAC play as they square off with the University of Dallas (March 13) at 3:30 p.m. and Schreiner (March 20) at 2 p.m. in consecutive weeks at home.
