Centenary Sweeps SCAC Weekly Swimming Honors

Lawrenceville, Ga. - The Centenary swimming programs swept the SCAC weekly honors announced on Monday as Ladies' senior Brianna Serret (Alexandria, La.) was named the SCAC Women's Swimmer of the Week and sophomore Antonio "Tony" Barbee (Plaquemine, La.) was named the Men's Swimmer of the Week.

Serret led the way for the Ladies in a home dual meet versus Hendrix last Saturday as she claimed three individual victories in the 50 fly (27.88), 100 fly (100.78), and 100 back (101.76). Serret now has six individual wins this season through her first three meets and has earned a pair of runner-up finishes. Her time in the 100 fly was a season best. She earned the weekly honor for the second time in her career.

Barbee swam a season-best time of 56.69 to win the 100 fly and also finished third in the 50 fly (25.82) and fourth in the 100 free (53.47). Barbee was also a member of a pair of relay teams that finished first and second. He teamed with three others to win the 200 medley relay (1:47.74) and was part of a team that earned a second-place finish in the 200 free relay (1:39.09). He earns the honor for the first time in his career.

Centenary recorded an impressive 11 individual wins on Saturday and one team win as the Gents claimed the men's medley relay in a time of 1:47.74.

Saturday's meet was the final action for Centenary this fall, but the Maroon and White will host a pair of meets in January, beginning with a dual meet versus Millsaps on Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. Centenary then competes in the Austin College Invitational on Jan. 15 in Sherman, Texas and faces Austin College in its final regular-season home meet on Jan. 22 for Senior Day.
