Ladies Fourth After Day One At SCAC Championships

Garland, Texas – The Centenary men's and women's swimming teams completed day one of the 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Wednesday as the Ladies are currently in fourth place and the Gents are seventh at the Garland ISD Natatorium.

The Ladies earned 78 points on Wednesday while the Gents tallied 48. Trinity is the leader on both the men's (112) and women's (116) side after day one. Colorado College is second in both men's (98) and women's (92) and Southwestern is third on both sides as the men picked up 90 points and the women scored 80. The Austin College women are currently fifth (74) and University of the Ozarks is sixth with 70 points. McMurry University is fourth in the men's standings (76), Ozarks is fifth (72), Austin College is sixth (56) ahead of the Gents. Trinity claimed victories in each relay event on Wednesday.

The Ladies finished fifth in the 200 Yard Medley Relay "A Final" with a time of 1:54.83 comprised of the foursome of senior Brianna Serret (Alexandria, La.), junior Christine Goodman (Alexandria, La.), senior Margot Frost (Prairieville, La.), and senior Madelyn Frederick (Slidell, La.). The team of sophomore Bryn Jenkins (Houston, Texas), junior Katie Malicoat (Wichita, Kan.), sophomore Anacelia Galeano-Balam (Baton Rouge, La.), and senior Lindsay Strohm (McKinney, Texas) finished 12th with a time of 1:59.35 in the "B" final.

The Ladies also placed fifth in the "A" final 800 Yard Free Relay with a time of 8:24.85. Serret, Strohm, and Jenkins paired with freshman Madeline Vacula (Belton, Texas). Malicoat, Goodman, Galeano-Balam, and junior Camryn Hebert (Youngsville, La.) finished the "B" final in a time of 8:4452 to place 11th.

Competition on day two begins at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday with the prelims of the 200 Free Relay followed by the 500 free, 200 IM, and 50 free. The finals of those for events will be held at 6 p.m. Friday's schedule features the same times – 10:30 a.m. for prelims and finals at 6 p.m. Saturday's action begins at 10:30 a.m. and is followed by the finals at 5:45 p.m. Centenary finished fourth on both the men's and women's side at last season's championships held in San Antonio, Texas.
