Herb Lang Inducted Into Centenary College Alumni Hall of Fame

Shreveport - Former men's basketball star Herb Lang was inducted into the Centenary College Alumni Hall of Fame on Thursday evening at the college's annual Alumni Awards Dinner on campus.

Lang, a native of Brinkley, Ark. starred for the Gents from 1994-98 and has since become a successful actor and has earned the nickname of "Flight Time" after winning the National Association of Basketball Coaches Slam Dunk Contest as a senior and was invited to join the Harlem Globetrotters in 1999 and has had a successful career with the world-famous organization.

Lang ranks #22 all-time in Centenary history in scoring (1,249 points) and scored the 10th-most points in a single game in program history when he poured in 41 versus Southeastern Louisiana on Jan. 25, 1997.

"Herb Lang has an amazing story to tell," said Centenary Director of Athletics and Recreation Davis Orr. "Herb is one of so many Centenary people that have amazing stories to tell and Centenary is so honored and proud that he is willing to share his stories. I'm inspired by Herb Lang, as I know many more are too. Herb loves Centenary and Centenary loves him! He is a Centenary Gentleman!"

Lang has had a successful career outside of basketball, even appearing multiple times on the CBS hit show The Amazing Race, participated in three seasons of The Amazing Race, and appeared on Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? along with his fellow Globetrotters on a special celebrity week. Lang raised $25,000, the most out of all his fellow players. In total, the Globetrotters raised over $45,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation that week.
