Centenary Athletics: Weekly Recap for Nov. 27-Dec. 3

Shreveport – The men's and women's basketball teams were busy last week and the Competitive Cheer team earned a program-best score last weekend at the Worldwide Spirit Association Competition held at the Shreveport Convention Center.

The men's basketball team went 1-2 overall and earned a split in a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contests on the road while the women went 0-3. The Gents fell 66-63 at Belhaven on Nov. 27, then 74-65 in their league opener on Friday at Austin College, but rebounded with a 91-87 win at Dallas on Saturday. The Ladies fell at home last Wednesday to Millsaps, 69-52, and then dropped both SCAC contests last weekend against Austin College (68-55) and Dallas (69-51).

Cheer received a 91 out of 100 possible points for their college co-ed game day performance last Saturday to earn its program-best score. The team earned a 19.5 out of 20 possible points for their performance in the fight song portion of their routine. They also earned a 9.5 out of 10 for the cheer section as well. The team earned perfect scores in game day, visual appeal, material relevant to Gameday environment, and motion technique/crowd leading tools.

Top Individual Performer: Men's Basketball - Senior F Seth Thomas (Kilgore, Texas)

Thomas scored a career-high 34 points in the Gents' 91-87 win at Dallas on Saturday in SCAC play, as he has now reached double figures in all 10 games this season. Thomas scored 30 or more points for the first time in his career, has scored 20+ six times this season and has scored in double figures 33 times in his last 36 games.
