Shreveport – The Centenary baseball team fell 15-0 to the East Texas Baptist University Tigers on Sunday afternoon in its second game of the Gents Classic at Shehee Stadium.

The Diamond Gents (0-2) fell behind 7-0 after four innings and the Tigers (1-1) scored eight runs over the final four innings to coast to the victory. Centenary was held to just three singles and struck out nine times. ETBU collected 19 hits and had four extra-base hits as seven Tigers posted multi-hit games.

Sophomore LHP Jacob Colby (Kingwood, Texas) suffered the loss to fall to 0-1 on the season as he lasted just 2/3 of an inning and allowed three runs, all earned, with a pair of walks. He did not allow a hit or strike out anyone. Colby faced six batters, hitting two, and threw 24 pitches (nine strikes). Seven Centenary pitchers followed, covering the final 8.1 innings. ETBU starter Sayer Collins (1-0) picked up the win for the Tigers as he went seven innings, striking out eight and allowing just three hits. Jagger Neely pitched the final two innings and struck out one.

The Diamond Gents, who are currently receiving votes (7) in the D3baseball.com/NCBWA preseason poll, fell 3-2 to Willamette on Saturday and despite the rare consecutive home losses, Centenary is still 20-5 on its home field dating back to the beginning of last season. ETBU rebounded from an 11-9 loss to Willamette on Saturday in the tournament opener in a wild game in which the Bearcats fell behind 6-0 after one inning but scored seven runs on the final three innings to get the win.

Centenary and Willamette will play at approximately 6 p.m. and the Diamond Gents and Tigers will play the final game of the weekend tournament on Monday at 4 p.m.
