Centenary freshman LHP Tyler Herrera (Spring, Texas) continued to shine as he started and pitched six innings, allowing just one run on seven hits with two walks and one strikeout to get the win and move to 4-0 on the season. He faced 24 batters and then gave way to senior RHP Conner Poche (Lutcher, La.) who pitched the seventh and allowed just one hit. He faced 24 batters and leads the team with a stellar 0.84 ERA. For the season he has allowed just three earned runs in 32 innings of work with 11 walks and 29 strikeouts.

Herrera was named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Rookie of the Week on Thursday after he turned in a dynamite performance on the mound in Centenary's 10-0 victory over Trinity at home last Friday. He blanked the Tigers on just three hits in his eight innings of work with nine strikeouts and just one walk. He threw 81 pitches, 49 for strikes, and faced 27 batters.

Against Trinity last Friday, Herrera allowed a two-out single in the first inning, a leadoff single in the second, and a two-out single in the fifth. Herrera is one of two SCAC pitchers to earn the weekly honor twice this season after he picked up the honor for the first time earlier this season.

Senior SS Brady Robinson (Jacksonville, Texas) had a big day offensively as he went 3-5 with four RBI and scored a run. Robinson now has 11 multi-hit games this season and posted his second three-hit effort after doing so in Centenary's season opener back on Feb. 5 versus Willamette. Senior 1B Preston Ludwick (Pflugerville, Texas) went 2-4 with three RBI. Ludwick recorded his 16th game this season with at least two hits and has done so in six-straight games. Senior DH Tyler Welch (Pineville, La.) finished 1-3 with an RBI, two runs scored, and two walks. Freshman LF Cade LaBruyere (Iowa, La.) continued his hot hitting with a 2-4 day and scored three runs. Senior RF Luke Royle (Dodge City, Kan.) also had a big day as he was 2-3 with two RBI, three runs scored, and a stolen base. Senior CF Gary Hewitt (Cedar Park, Texas) was 1-2 with a walk and a run scored and junior SS Noah Koehmstedt (San Diego, Calif.) finished 2-4 with an RBI and a run.

Schreiner was led by DH Dominick Garcia who went 2-3 and CF Isaiah Hernandez went 1-3 with a solo home run and a run scored. Five other Mountaineers had one hit each. Schreiner batters drew two walks, struck out once, and left five on base. Centenary left seven on base, struck out three times, and walked three times. Schreiner hurt itself by committing four costly errors while Centenary played a clean game. Centenary also turned four double plays to eliminate any chance that Schreiner had to gain any momentum on offense.

The Diamond Gents continued their recent dominance over the Mountaineers as they won their 16th-straight game against them on Friday and have won 18 of the last 19. Centenary's last loss to Schreiner came way back on Feb. 27, 2016 (11-8) at home. Centenary has now scored 10 or more runs in a game a staggering 27 times over the last two seasons and done so 10 times this season. The Diamond Gents have also recorded 10 or more hits in game 17 times, at least 13 hits 10 times.

Centenary took a 2-0 lead in the second as Royle reached on an error after consecutive one-out singles by LaBruyere and Koehmstedt. After Hewitt struck out, Welch delivered a two-out RBI single. Hernandez cut the led in half with his solo shot in the bottom of the frame but the Diamond Gents scored a combined nine runs over the fourth and fifth innings and added a single run in the seventh to cruise to the victory.

LaBruyere tripled to lead off the fourth and Koehmstedt singled him home for a 3-1 lead. Robinson had a two-RBI single and Ludwick capped the scoring with a two-out RBI double to score Robinson. In the fifth, Centenary took advantage of three Schreiner errors to score five runs. Robinson had a two-RBI double, Ludwick had an RBI groundout, Royle had an RBI single, and the fifth run scored on an error. Ludwick added a sacrifice fly in the seventh for the final run of the game.
