Lawrenceville, Ga. - TYLER HERRERA OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a first-year left-handed pitcher from Spring, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, March 21 through Sunday, March 27. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 7

Herrera turned in a dynamite performance on the mound on Friday night in the Diamond Gents' series opener versus #16 Trinity at home as he blanked the Tigers on just three hits in his eight innings of work with nine strikeouts and just one walk. Herrera (3-0) lowered his team-low ERA to a staggering 0.69. He threw 81 pitches, 49 for strikes, and faced 27 batters. Herrera allowed a two-out single in the first inning, a leadoff single in the second, and a two-out single in the fifth.

He struck out a pair in the first, induced an inning-ending double play in the second, struck out two more in the fifth and also struck out a pair in both the seventh and eighth. Herrera, who was named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week earlier this month, was coming off of a solid start last Saturday at Texas Lutheran as he received a no-decision in a six-inning effort versus the Bulldogs. He allowed just an unearned run and four hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Herrera is one of two SCAC pitchers to earn the weekly honor twice this season.
