Fort Worth, Texas – The Centenary football team returns to the field on Monday evening as the undefeated Gents will face the Texas Lutheran University JV squad in a contest set for 5:30 p.m. at Lake County Christian High School.
The Gents (6-0) were last in action at home on Oct. 18 as they recorded a blowout win over the TWA College BattleCats by a score of 57-8 at Mayo Field. Centenary has now outscored the opposition 297-47 this season. Monday's game against the Bulldogs is considered a home game for the Gents.
Centenary is back in Fort Worth for the second time this season after the Maroon and White picked up a 34-27 victory over the Mary Hardin-Baylor JV squad at Castleberry High School last month.
"I am very pleased with how we played in our last game against TWA," said Centenary head coach Byron Dawson. We must totally focus on getting better each week. The goal remains the same - master the fundamentals and play as a team."
"TLU is a well-established program with good coaching and tradition. We will have to bring our "A game" to Fort Worth Monday night. This will be our second time traveling to Fort Worth to play a neutral site game and we are looking forward to the opportunity."
Freshman QB Jalen Robinson (Amite, La.), freshman WR Devin Ardoin (Mamou, La.), sophomore RB Josh Ware (Shreveport, La.), and freshman WR Byron Stewart (Geismar, La.) all scored offensive touchdowns in the TWA win and freshman LB Jamil Cloman (Monroe, La.) returned an interception 68 yards for a score.
Freshman K Russell Skipper Jr. (North Richland Hills, Texas) has been steady all season and had arguably his best performance against the BattleCats, kicking a 43-yard field goal and one from 47 and went 7-7 on PAT's.
The Gents finish the season next month with a pair of road games at Arkansas Baptist (Nov. 4 – 2 p.m.) and at Lyon College (Nov. 11 – 2 p.m.).
