Centenary Set to Host Annual Hal Sutton Invitational Monday and Tuesday

Bossier City, La. - The Centenary men's and women's golf teams will host the annual Hal Sutton Invitational Monday and Tuesday at the Golf Club at Stonebridge in Bossier City.

The teams will play 18 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday. The field for this week's tournament includes the Blinn College women and two men's teams, the East Texas Baptist men's and women's teams, the Jacksonville College men, the LeTourneau University men and women, the Louisiana College men, the Tyler Junior College men and women, and the Williams Baptist men and women.

Both the Ladies and Gents finished fifth in the Pinecrest Invitational hosted by LeTourneau University on March 9 in Longview, Texas in their most recent action. The Ladies, playing in their first tournament of the season, shot a +274 over par 850 while the Gents, playing in their second tournament and first since early February, finished at +48 (900).

Sophomore Richard Polan (Brno, Czech Republic) highlighted the tournament for Centenary as he tied for the individual lead after Tuesday's final round and then lost to Houston-Victoria's Max Schliesing in a five-hole playoff for the individual title. Polan was subsequently named the

Polan shot 68-73-72 – 213 (even par) for the two-day event which included the new career-low round of 68 in round one on Monday. Polan and Schliesing were the only two individuals to finish below par. Senior Brodey Warner (Brookeland, Texas) finished 13th overall at 11-over 224. He shot an even par-71 in Tuesday's final round after posting rounds of 77 and 76 the day before.

Fellow senior Harrison John (Lafayette, La.) finished in a tie for 16th at 14-over 227 as he also shot even-par 71 in Tuesday's final round. Freshman Riley Chase (Crosby, Texas) tied for 37th as he shot a 30-over par 243 (87-75-81). Freshman Ricky Blair (Bossier City, La.)  finished in a tie for 45th place at 35-over 248 (80-86-82) and senior Gage Garber (Coppell, Texas) tied for 52nd as she shot a 43-over par 256 (88-86-82).

The Ladies finished 16 shots ahead of sixth-place Murray State Community College. Senior Shannon Orlopp (Rogers, Ark.) and junior Abigail Hayes (Plano, Texas) were the Ladies' top finishers as the pair tied for 19th place after each shot a 46-over 190. Freshman Madison Wing (Shreveport) shot a 91-over par 235 to tie for 35th place with her teammate, junior Lindsay Strohm (McKinney, Texas).

Those same four Ladies will be the starting four in this week's home tournament and on the men's side, the same five that played that played in the Pinecrest Invitational will start in addition to senior Gage Garber (Coppell, Texas) and sophomore Devan Martin (Watson, La.) playing as individuals.

We are excited to have our only home tournament coming up this week," said Centenary head coach Emlyn Aubrey. "As in every sport, it's nice to have the home advantage, but in golf it's truly a unique advantage as golf courses differ so drastically. Hopefully we can take that advantage to some wins."
