Polan Holds Individual Lead; Gents Fourth Heading Into Final Round Of 2022 Rhodes Spring Invitational

Millington, Tenn. – The Centenary men's golf team is fourth after the first two rounds on Sunday at the 2022 Rhodes Spring Invitational as junior Richard Polan (Brno, Czech Republic) holds the individual lead at Mirimichi Golf Club.

The tournament concludes on Monday with the final 18 holes at the par-72, 6,987-yard course. The Gents shot a 28-over par 604 and are 17 shots behind the leader and host Rhodes College Lynx (+11 – 587). Centenary shot a 15-over par 303 in round one followed by a 13-over 301 in round two. Polan fired a 4-under par 68 in round two after a 1-over 73 in round one to sit at 3-under par 141 heading into Monday's final round.

LeTourneau is in second place at 19-over par 595 and John A. Logan College is third (20-over par 596). Dallas is one shot behind the Gents in fifth place after shooting a 29-over par 605. Centre College is sixth, Belhaven and Hendrix are tied for seventh, Millsaps and the Rhodes "B" team are tied for ninth and Brescia University is 10th.

Polan is two shots ahead of Rhodes' Foster Wood (1-under par 143) and they are the only two golfers in the field currently under par. Polan's 68 in round two is tied for the lowest round of the tournament matched by Rhodes' Jack Stein in round one. Polan has five top-five finishes in his career but is looking for his first collegiate win. He has tied for first but lost in a playoff before and also earned a runner-up finish. Sophomore Andrew Bennett (Bossier City, La.) is tied for fifth at 4-over 148 after shooting 75-73 on Monday.

Sophomore Ricky Blair (Bossier City, La.) is tied for 22nd place at 9-over par 153, senior Harrison John (Lafayette, La.) is tied for 49th place at 20-over par 164, junior Devan Martin (Watson, La.) shot 89-84 – 173 (+29) and is tied for 62nd and freshman Tyler Jones (Stonewall, La.) shot a 36-over par 180 and is in 66th place.
