Women's Golf Completes Day One Of BSN Sports Dataw Island Invitational

Dataw Island, SC – The Centenary women's golf team completed day one of play in the BSN Sports Dataw Island Invitational on Monday at the par-72, 5,835 yard Dataw Island Club- Morgan River Course.

The Ladies, playing in their first event of the spring season, shot a team total of 432 to sit in a seventh-place tie with McMurry. The tournament is being hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University and concludes with the final 18 holes on Tuesday with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.

The field includes the Ladies, host Ohio Wesleyan University, Milikin University, Washington and Jefferson, Shenandoah, McMurry, Marymount, and Mount St. Joseph College. Ohio Wesleyan is the leader after round one at 59-over par 347, three shots ahead of Mount St. Joseph and five ahead of Marymount.

Ohio Wesleyan's Marie Overing is the top individual heading into the final round after she shot an 8-over par 80 in round one on Monday. Four golfers, including her teammate Brittany Miller, are within four shots of Overing.

Senior Erin Rostro (Kyle, Texas) shot the lowest round for the Maroon and White on Monday as she carded a 23-over par 95 to sit in 22nd place overall. Senior Shannon Orlopp (Rogers, Ark.) is one shot behind her in 23rd place while sophomore Abigail Hayes (Plano, Texas) and senior Kristyn Peacock (Katy, Texas) are currently in 41st and 44th place respectively.
