Women's Golf Places Seventh At BSN Sports Dataw Island Invitational

Dataw Island, SC – The Centenary women's golf team shot a final-round 405 to finish seventh in the BSN Sports Dataw Island Invitational on Tuesday at the par-72, 5,835 yard Dataw Island Club- Morgan River Course.

The Ladies, who shot a 432 on Monday in round one, were playing in their first event of the spring season. The tournament host Ohio Wesleyan University claimed the team title after finishing at 110-over par 686, 11 shots ahead of runner-up Mount St. Joseph College.

Marymount, Milikin University, and Shenandoah finished third through fifth. Washington and Jefferson finished sixth ahead of Centenary, and McMurry did not finish play.

Marymount's Isabel Trojillo claimed the individual title as she shot a final-round 80 to shoot 19-over par 165 for the tournament, finishing two shots ahead of Ohio Wesleyan's Marie Overing, who led after Monday's opening 18 holes.

Centenary senior Erin Rostro (Kyle, Texas) earned the Ladies' top finish as she shot 95-89 – 184 to tie for 18th place. Fellow senior Shannon Orlopp (Rogers, Ark.) tied for 21st place at 43-over par 187.

The Ladies will next host the annual Hal Sutton Invitational at The Golf Club at Stonebridge in Bossier City March 23-24.
