Ladies Extend Winning Streak To Six With Victory Over Dallas Christian

Dallas– The Centenary volleyball team extended its winning streak to six as the Ladies defeated the Dallas Christian College Crusaders 3-1 in a non-conference contest on Friday evening.

The Ladies (9-6) can tie the record for the longest winning streak in the division III era (2011-present) with a victory over Dallas on Saturday at Noon in their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener in Irving, Texas. Centenary will then face Austin College at 3 p.m. Dallas Christian fell to 6-5 with Friday's loss. Live stats are available for Saturday's matches at the links below:

Centenary won the first two sets by identical 25-20 scores and had a chance to close out the match in the third set but lost a close battle, 26-24. The close loss in set three snapped the Ladies' 17-set winning streak, but that did not deter the Maroon and White as they closed out the victory with a 26-24 victory in set four. The Ladies defeated the Louisiana College Wildcats in straight sets, 3-0, in a non-conference match at the Gold Dome on Wednesday night which extended their unbeaten streak to 15 straight sets. Prior to the win over Louisiana College, the Ladies also recorded sweeps over Williams Baptist, Jarvis Christian, and Grambling.

Senior OH Alyssa Davis (Leonard, Texas) had a superb match as she led the Ladies with 23 kills, a season high, and 17 digs and had one ace. Davis, the team leader in both kills and digs this season, she entered the week ranked third in the conference in kills, and posted double-digit kills in a match for the 10th time this season and is currently number two in program history in the D3 era in the category. She also posted double-digit digs for the eighth time. She posted double-digit kills and digs in the same match for the seventh time this season.

Sophomore DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) posted a season-high 23 digs and added two assists. Proctor tallied at least 20 digs for the seventh time in her young career after doing so six times last season as a freshman and posted double-digits in digs for the 12th time in her career. Junior DS Mariah Martinez (San Antonio, Texas) posted 18 assists and eight digs and senior S Marichael Clarin-Jante (Houston, Texas) led the Ladies with 29 assists and added 12 digs.

Senior MB Elizabeth Epley (Nashville, Tenn.) had a balanced match with seven kills, two aces, an assist, and a dig. Sophomore DS/L Tori Ligman (Bossier City, La.) had nine digs and an assist and fellow sophomore MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) had five kills and a dig. Junior MB Liz Lowe (San Antonio, Texas) posted four kills and three digs and senior Lauren Kelley (Fort Worth, Texas) tallied four kills, two digs, and an assist. Freshman RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) recorded 11 kills and fellow freshman MB Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) had five kills and a dig. Centenary's offense was impressive on Friday as the Ladies recorded season highs in kills (60), assists (58), and digs (81). Their previous high in digs was 75 set twice, 54 in kills, and 50 assists.
