Ladies Fall To Schreiner On Sunday 3-1

Georgetown, Texas – The Centenary volleyball team fell 3-1 to the Schreiner Mountaineers in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Sunday afternoon as the Ladies wrapped up play in the conference divisional at the Robertson Center.

The Ladies (11-18, 2-10 SCAC) went 0-3 this weekend after dropping a pair of matches on Saturday to host Southwestern and Trinity. Schreiner took a close first set, 25-22, and then won set two 25-8. The Ladies, however, responded with a 26-24 win in the third set to extend the match. The Mountaineers then closed out the victory with a 25-14 edge in set four. Centenary finished Sunday's match with 75 digs, 39 assists, 42 kills, and a pair of aces. Schreiner totaled 82 digs, 60 kills, 57 assists, and seven aces.

Sophomore DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) tied her season single-game high with 24 digs and added four assists and an ace. Proctor had 23 digs on the two matches on Saturday along with a pair of assists to finish with an impressive 47 digs for the weekend. Senior S Marichael Clarin-Jante (Houston, Texas) posted 32 assists, 14 digs, two aces, and a kill.

Senior OH Lauren Kelley (Fort Worth, Texas) tallied 11 digs, six kills, and an ace. Freshman MB/OH McKayla Merrow (Shreveport) added three digs, two kills, and an ace. Sophomore MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) posted eight kills and two digs and fellow sophomore DS/L Tori Ligman (Bossier City, La.) had six digs. Freshman RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) recorded 10 kills, nine digs and an assist. She finished the weekend with 37 digs, 23 kills, an assist, and an ace. Senior MB Elizabeth Epley (Nashville, Tenn.) had six kills and three digs.

The Ladies will next face the Jarvis Christian Bulldogs in a non-conference contest on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. in Hawkins, Texas. Centenary is then home next weekend as the Maroon and White welcome the Mississippi University for Women Owls in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday, Oct. 23 for matches at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Gold Dome.
