Ladies Set To Face Jarvis Christian in Non-Conference Contest

Hawkins, Texas– The Centenary volleyball team will take a break from Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Wednesday as the Ladies are set to face the Jarvis Christian College Bulldogs in a non-conference match set for 6 p.m. at the E.W. Rand Center.

The Ladies (11-18, 2-10 SCAC) went 0-3 last weekend in a conference divisional in Georgetown, Texas hosted by Southwestern University. Centenary fell 3-1 to the Schreiner Mountaineers on Sunday after dropping a pair of matches on Saturday to host Southwestern and Trinity.

The Bulldogs are 5-15 on the season and this will be the third meeting between the two schools this season as the Ladies defeated the Bulldogs 3-2 back on Sept. 3 in their season opener in the Lyon College Highlander Invitational in Batesville, Ark. and then recorded a 3-0 win at home on Sept. 15.

Centenary senior OH Alyssa Davis (Leonard, Texas) currently ranks second in the conference in kills with 303 while sophomore DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) is fifth in digs with 289. Senior S Marichael Clarin-Jante (Houston, Texas) ranks second in the league in assists with 542.

Proctor tied her season single-game high with 24 digs versus Schreiner and added four assists and an ace. Proctor had 23 digs on the two matches on Saturday along with a pair of assists to finish with an impressive 47 digs for the weekend. Clarin-Jante posted 32 assists, 14 digs, two aces, and a kill.

Freshman RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) recorded 10 kills, nine digs and an assist. She finished the weekend with 37 digs, 23 kills, an assist, and an ace. The rookie is second on the team in kills this season with 193 and has added 134 digs, 13 assists, and eight aces. Sophomore DS/L Tori Ligman (Bossier City, La.) has 224 digs, 13 assists, and is tied for the team lead with 18 aces.

Centenary is home this weekend as the Maroon and White welcome the Mississippi University for Women Owls in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday, Oct. 23 for matches at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Gold Dome. The Ladies then face Dallas Christian College on Wednesday, Oct. 27 for their annual Senior Night match set for 6 p.m.
