Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: Nov. 22 Edition

Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: Nov. 22 Edition

Hey Ladies Gymnastics Fans!! It's sophomore Mylia Vidtor here, and I'm bringing you this week's gym talk.

The Ladies had an amazing week. Our newest addition to the family, Joseph Hodges, rose to the occasion on his first official week of practice. Coach Joseph talked with us about how to make SMART goals: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timely. We incorporated that into our new goal setting program. Watch out because the Ladies are going to be crushing goals this season!

As some of you saw on our instagram, we have quite a few bar stars who really showed out for our bar intrasquad on Saturday. The bar stars started off with senior Rose Deshler, who put out an amazing routine with a stuck dismount. Second senior Kendall Huff made all our jaws drop from her in-bar skill. She was amazing. Third, freshman Sophie Schmitz brought us a routine filled with turning skills and HIT handstands. Fourth, sophomore Emma Lavelle added a skill in her routine last minute and shined. Lastly, senior Taylor Wilson, our national champ, put out a routine with stunning connections. Big shoutouts to Rose Deshler who brought us a big bang by catching her release, and Emma Lavelle and Taylor Wilson, who both put their dismounts on hard landing. The Ladies had an amazing bar day while accomplishing some major goals.

Not only are we killing it on bars, we also had another intrasquad with the beam queens on Sunday. They put up a show while fighting for every landing and connection. Shout out to all of the ladies for their beautiful dismounts and choreography. The ladies are always working on get better, so I want to give some recognition to those working hard to be ready to be put in a lineup: senior Kendall Huff is getting more consistent on her triple series. Freshman Amy Foret has been doing beautiful aerials. Junior Rylie Molina, coming back from an ankle injury, was able to put some skills on the beam, and I, also coming back from an injury, put connected series together on beam. The ladies have been putting in such hard work and we can see it paying off in all the intrasquads we are doing. The overall consistency and feeling comfortable really shows in their skills.

To end the week off, the Ladies gathered together for a Friendsgiving and brought a dish of their choice. We shared stories and really had a chance to bond with one another outside of the gym. I would say that not only do we have extremely talented gymnasts, we also have some very astonishing chefs on our hands.

Thank you for keeping up with the LADIES! Make sure to tune in next week to hear from Freshman Olivia Stratmann!!
