St. Charles, Mo. – The Centenary gymnastics team finished with a 187.000 team score to place second in a tri-meet on Sunday afternoon against host Lindenwood University and Greenville University at Hyland Arena.
The host Lions won the meet with a 195.425 score and Greenville finished third at 183.950. The Ladies completed a busy weekend after finishing third (186.200) in a tri-meet against host Illinois State University and Bowling Green on Friday night in Normal, Ill.
The Ladies' top event score on Sunday was a 47.250 on floor followed by a 46.775 on vault, a 46.725 on bars, and a 46.250 on beam. The Ladies earned their second-highest scores of the season on both vault and bars on Sunday. Centenary earned four 9.70 or higher scores and as high as 9.725 twice.
Senior Leilani Johnson (Wichita, Kan.) tied for seventh place on floor with a season-high 9.725 to nearly match her career high (9.75). Freshman Amy Foret (Bedford, Texas) was right behind her with a 9.70 to finish ninth.
Senior Rose Deshler (Hastings, Minn.) led the way on beam with a career-high 9.725 to finish fifth. Senior Taylor Ann Wilson (Memphis, Tenn.) earned a 9.70 on bars to finish sixth, just head of freshman Sophie Schmitz (Trophy Club, Texas) who earned a season-high tying 9.650 to place seventh.
Johnson was the Ladies' top finisher on vault (9.575) to finish seventh. Senior Kendall Huff (Riviera, Texas) was next at 9.55 to tie for ninth place and, Foret finished 11th at 9.475. Johnson earned another top 10 on beam as she received a 9.35 to tie for ninth. Wilson earned a career-high 9.55 on floor to place 10th.
Centenary will return home next weekend to face the Texas Woman's University Pioneers in a Midwest Independent Conference dual meet on Friday, Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. on Youth Night in the Gold Dome.
