Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: March 8 Edition

Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: March 8 Edition

Hey there Ladies Gymnastics fans! It's junior Roxy Myers here with this week's gym talk and let me tell you, it was a good week for the Centenary Ladies!!

As the crew arrived back in Shreveport from their exciting trip to Springfield, Massachusetts, we all rested up and did our final preparations to finish up midterms.  Although we are athletes at heart, your favorite Ladies also double as academic weapons, and we take our education very seriously.  Shoutout to Rose Deshler, our academic captain, for keeping the Ladies organized and prepared for all things school related!  We continued our work from the classroom and into the gym as well this week.  In fact, we worked so hard in the gym we set season-high team scores on vault, bars, and floor at competition! This Saturday we competed against Texas Woman's Gymnastics at the first-ever Battle of the Rose in Tyler, Texas. We started the competition off on vault where junior Izzie Plaza tied her season-high with a solid 9.55 and freshmen Amy Foret set a new career high of 9.575.  But not only did these two vault shakers show up and show out on the vault but they brought the energy to the bars with them. On bars, Izzie Plaza set a new career-high with a 9.425, Amy Foret set a new career-high with a 9.375, freshmen Sophie Schmitz set a new career-high with a 9.7 and senior Taylor Wilson set a new season-high with a 9.825. Moving onto floor, senior Kendall Huff tied her season-high of 9.55, sophomore Carissa Martinez set a new career-high at 9.775 and senior Leilani Johnson set a new career-high at 9.8.  Lastly, Amy Foret set her career high in the all-around with a solid 38.225. The Ladies finished the meet scoring 191.1750 and we headed back to Shreveport.

On Sunday, your lovely Ladies spent the afternoon at the Marjorie Lyons Playhouse watching the Centenary Theater production of MAC BETH.  Then we rested up to prepare for the very exciting but sad week because it is SENIOR MEET WEEK!!  I am surely going to miss these seniors but couldn't be happier for them as they are moving on and pursuing their dreams for life after gymnastics.  Come support your favorite Ladies and watch our incredible seniors (Rose Deshler, Kendall Huff, Taylor Wilson, Lacey Wedge, Leilani Johnson, and Kennedy Stephens) give one last performance in the Gold Dome, this Saturday at 5:00 pm!

See you Saturday Ladies Gymnastics Fans and come back next week for the Senior's gym talk!!
