Foret Named MIC Newcomer Of The Week

Shreveport – Centenary freshman Amy Foret (Bedford, Texas) has been selected as the MIC Newcomer of the Week, the Midwest Independent Conference announced on Wednesday.

Foret earned one of the four individual honors that the conference chooses on a weekly basis. SEMO's Lydia Webb was named Gymnast of the Week, Maddie Griffith of Texas Woman's University earned Performance of the Week honors, and the Coaches' Choice Award went to Steelie King of TWU.

Foret continued the impressive start to her rookie season by winning the All-Around competition in the Ladies' victory over Hamline on Saturday evening in their home opener. Foret earned a 37.350 highlighted by a victory on floor with a season-best 9.825 score – the highest by a Centenary gymnast all season in the event. She also finished fourth on vault with a 9.475.

She finished second in the All-Around competition with a season-best 38.025 in the TWU quad meet on Jan. 20 and finished third in the All-Around competition with a 37.125 score in the Ladies' season opener against SEMO and Greenville University in Cape Girardeau, Mo. on Jan. 14.

Centenary returns to action on Friday against Illinois State and Bowling Green in a tri-meet in Normal, Ill. at 7 p.m.
