Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: Jan. 4 Edition

Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: Jan. 4 Edition

Hey Ladies Fans!! This is freshman Claire Flores, here with this week's Gym Talk!

The team is excited to be back on campus and we are working hard, getting ready for our first official intrasquad on January 8 in the Gold Dome! We hope to see everyone there as we are excited to show off our routines and would love the support!

The gymnastics team is back on campus before spring semester official starts to prepare for our intrasquad, and with no school work, we have had extra time to participate in some team bonding activities!! Former Centenary gymnast, Lauren Hawkins, invited the Ladies over to her house for a team dinner which we all appreciated! We are so grateful to have alumni in the area who are so willing to take care of us! Coach Meg and former Head Coach Jackie Fain have been graciously hosting us for dinners and we have loved the time spent together telling stories, making jokes, and creating new memories! One of the most fun activities we have partaken in was an escape room. Both groups made it out in impressive times! Although my team, Carissa, Kendall, Rose, Kennedy, Emma, Sophie, Amy, and Coach Meg took the cake for the fastest time! The ladies love some friendly competition!

Continuing into the week, the Ladies were in the gym perfecting our landings and identifying the small details we could touch up to make our routines the best they can be. Looking back at the week, we have had some great work in the gym. Seniors Kennedy Stephens, and Kendall Huff, along with sophomores Carissa Martinez, and Emma Lavelle made some big moves and put their double backs on the real floor. Our beam lineup is on fire with some solid routines! On top of that, we have some ladies making big strides to recover from injuries! Sophomore Mylia Vidtor was fully released and is working hard to make a comeback! Freshman Sophie Schmitz is working hard to strengthen her ankles, and is doing all she can, which includes contributing her beautiful bar skills to the team. Junior Roxy Myers is really shining on bars after having shoulder surgery last season; we can't wait to see that bar star back in action!

There's your update on the Ladies post-Christmas break! We're all so excited for this season and can't wait to get back into action. Thanks for reading this week's Gym Talk!

This is Freshman, Claire Flores, signing off. Tune in to next week's Gym talk to hear from fellow Freshman, Amy Foret!
