Lacrosse Falls on Road to Huntingdon on Friday Night

Montgomery, Ala. - The Centenary lacrosse team fell by a score of 21-7 to the Huntingdon College Hawks on Friday night in a non-conference match at Charles Lee Field at Samford Stadium.

The Gents (1-5) were coming off of the biggest win in program history as they posted a 7-4 comeback victory over Dallas in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Senior Day at Mayo Field last Sunday, Centenary's first victory since reestablishing as a varsity program.

The Hawks (1-3) scored the game's first four goals until Centenary got on the board with a minute remaining in the first period as freshman Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) scored his fourth goal of the season, an unassisted goal, to make it a 4-1 game. Four minutes into the second quarter Cook struck again to cut the deficit to 4-2 with another unassisted goal.

Huntingdon's Tyler Keiser scored to make it 5-2 but then four minutes later the Gents scored a pair of goals in a span of just 12 seconds to make it a 5-4 game. Freshman Wikenson Julien (Immokalee, Fla.) found the net for the second time this season off the assist from sophomore Kyle Comi (Allen, Texas) and then seconds later Cook earned the hat trick with his third goal of the half.

The Hawks scored three more goals in the final four minutes of the half to take an 8-4 lead at halftime. Huntington came out hot in the second half, scoring four goals in the first four minutes to take a 12-4 lead. Comi scored an unassisted goal at the 4:43 mark of the third period, his second goal of the season. Sophomore John Mark Waniewski (Bossier City, La.) scored a pair of goals in the fourth quarter, the first unassisted and the second assisted by sophomore Mark Temple (Houston, Texas). Waniewski now has three goals this season and the assist by Temple was his team-leading fourth. Eleven of Centenary's 26 goals this season have been scored by freshman.

Centenary goalkeeper Thomas Siskron (Shreveport) played all 60 minutes and collected 14 saves and now has 94 saves this season and an impressive 215 career saves. Siskron entered the game second in the SCAC in saves per game (16.00) and was tied for 14th in the country in the category. Hawks' goalie Stephen Dan had 12 saves. Four Hawks players had at least four goals and Brayden Puckett added three.

Comi led the Gents in ground balls with six, and sophomore Chris Dant (Bossier City), and freshman Noah Katz (Las Vegas, Nev.) each had five. Katz led the Maroon and White with three caused turnovers. Sophomore Ethan Little (Tyler, Texas) had a pair of ground balls and a caused turnover. He was named the SCAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after he helped lead the Gents' defense in the win over Dallas last weekend.

Centenary will next face Hendrix in its final home game of the season on March 18 at 7 p.m. at Mayo Field.
