Lacrosse Team faces Hendrix on Thursday Night in Home Finale

Shreveport - The Centenary lacrosse team will face the Hendrix College Warriors on Thursday evening in a non-conference contest set for 7 p.m. at Mayo Field.

The Gents (1-5) will be playing their final home game of the regular season and facing the Warriors (2-1) for the second time this season after the teams met two weeks ago (March 4) in Conway, Ark. as Hendrix recorded a 25-3 victory.

Centenary, which posted a 7-4 comeback victory over Dallas in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Senior Day on March 7, fell by a score of 21-7 to the Huntingdon College Hawks on the road in the Gents' most recent game last Friday. Centenary's landmark win over Dallas on Senior Day was its first victory since reestablishing as a varsity program.

Freshman Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) scored a pair of goals last Friday versus Huntingdon fellow freshman Wikenson Julien (Immokalee, Fla.) scored one as did sophomore Kyle Comi (Allen, Texas). Sophomore Dario Garcia (Dallas, Texas) also found the net and sophomore John Mark Waniewski (Bossier City, La.) scored a pair of goals in the fourth quarter. Comi and sophomore Mark Temple (Houston, Texas) tallied assists in the game.

Centenary goalkeeper Thomas Siskron (Shreveport) played all 60 minutes and collected 14 saves and now has 94 saves this season and an impressive 215 career saves. Siskron ranks eighth in SCAC in goals against average, seventh in save percentage, and second in saves per game. Siskron is tied for 19th in the country in saves per game (15.67).

Comi led the Gents in ground balls with six, and sophomore Chris Dant (Bossier City), and freshman Noah Katz (Las Vegas, Nev.) each had five. Katz led the Maroon and White with three caused turnovers. Sophomore Ethan Little (Tyler, Texas) had a pair of ground balls and a caused turnover.

Temple leads the team in goals (7) and assists (4), Cook has five goals and one assist, Garcia, Miller, and Waniewski all have three goals. Julien and Comi each have two.

Temple and Miller are tied for ninth in the conference in goals per game and Temple is tied for first in game-winning goals. Comi ranks fifth in the league in ground balls per game and Temple, Cook, Comi, and Miller all rank in the top 10 in shots per game. Miller is also tied for first in man-up goals per game.

The Gents, who are 1-1 at home this season, have scored at least five goals in three of their six games this season and have scored seven in each of their last two. Ten of centenary's goals this season have been scored by freshman.

Centenary will hit the road next weekend to face Colorado College on Friday, March 26 (4 p.m.) and Sunday, March 28 (3 p.m.) in SCAC action.
