Gents Prepare for SCAC Baseball Tournament

CLEBURNE, Texas - The Diamond Gents will be in a familiar position this weekend, May 4-6. For winning the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship, its third in four seasons, Centenary (24-14) will be the top seed in the Conference Tournament. The Gents, who finished 15-3 in conference play, will take on fourth-seeded Southwestern (17-22) at 1 p.m. at The Depot in Cleburne, Texas, Friday, May 4.

Centenary swept a three-game series from Southwestern earlier this season. The Gents took the series opener, 6-1, before winning game two, 6-5, after pushing a run across in the bottom of the ninth. In the series finale, the Gents won 8-0

Thursday, April 5: Centenary 6, Southwestern 1

Saturday, April 7: Centenary 6, Southwestern 5 (Gm. 1) | Centenary 8, Southwestern 0 (Gm. 2)

In the series, seniors Ian Graham and Cole Lavergne, along with sophomore Cody Crowder, all went 4-for-11 to lead Centenary. Senior Nicholas Delaneuville drew five walks, including the walk the proved to be the winning run in Centenary's 6-5 win Saturday.

Hayden Craig led the Pirates with a 3-for-9 average.

Centenary is on a current seven game winning streak against the Pirates, including a 6-4 win last season in the first round of the SCAC Tournament.

Next Up

Centenary will either take on #3 seed Texas Lutheran or #2 seed Trinity. If the Gents beat the Pirates, they will take on the winner of the second tournament game Saturday at noon. If the Gents lose, they will take on the loser of the second tournament game Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
