Longview, Texas - The Centenary women's golf team opens its spring season on Monday in the 2022 Pinecrest Invitational hosted by LeTourneau University at the Pinecrest Country Club.

The event begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. as the Ladies will play a par-72, 5,716-yard course layout. Monday will feature 36 holes of action followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday.

Centenary will be joined by the host YellowJackets and 13 other schools - East Texas Baptist University, Hendrix College, Schreiner University, Tyler Junior College, Jacksonville College, Murray State, University of Houston-Victoria, Central College, Dallas Christian College, Concordia University, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Louisiana Christian University, and McMurry University.

The Ladies' lineup this week will consist of senior Abigail Hayes (Plano, Texas), freshman Kiley Smith (Fort Worth, Texas), senior Lindsay Strohm (McKinney, Texas) and sophomore Madison Wing (Shreveport, La.). Centenary is back in action for the first time since recording a seventh-place finish in the University of Dallas Crusader Invitational back in October in Thackerville, Okla. The Ladies shot a final-round 113-over par 401 after shooting a 96-over par 384 in the opening round.

Smith was the Ladies' top finisher as she shot a final-round 18-over par 90 to finish in 17th place. The rookie was tied for 13th after a 15-over 87 in the opening round. Hayes shot a 95 on in the final round which followed an opening-round 97 and ended in a tie for 31st place. Strohm finished 33rd after shooting 94-103 (+53 197) and Wing finished 40th after rounds of 106 and 113 to end with a +75 219 total.

The Ladies opened their season with a sixth-place finish in the Rhodes Classic back in September as they shot a 98-over par 386 in the final round after shooting a 92-over 380 in the opening round to finish at +190 (766) for the tournament.

Hayes was the Ladies' top finisher as she tied for 24th place at 24-over par 168. She shot a final round 15-over par 87 after a 9-over par 81 in round one. Smith finished in a tie for 35th place, Strohm finished 43rd, and Wing was just behind her with a 44th-place finish. Hayes recorded her eighth top-25 career finish and had done so in six of her last seven tournaments. She finished in the top 25 in all five tournaments that she played in last season. 

The Ladies will next be in action on March 21-22 as they host the annual Hal Sutton Invitational at the Golf Club at Stonebridge in Bossier City.
