Ladies Set To Host Annual Hal Sutton Invitational

Bossier City, La. - The Centenary golf teams will play host to their annual home tournament, the Hal Sutton Invitational, on Monday and Tuesday at The Golf Club at Stonebridge.

Centenary is back in action after competing in the Pinecrest Invitational hosted by LeTourneau University last week in Longview, Texas as the Ladies and Gents both finished sixth.

The men's field includes the Gents, Augustana College (Illinois), Belhaven University, Blinn Junior College, Jacksonville College, Louisiana Christian University, Millsaps College, Murray State College (Oklahoma), and Tyler Junior College.

The women's field includes the Ladies, Millsaps, Mississippi College, Murray State, and Tyler. The Gents finished second in last season's Hal Sutton while the Ladies placed sixth.

The Ladies shot a 108-over par 396 in the final round after a 131-over par 419 in the opening round to finish at +239 – 815 for the tournament. The Gents shot a final-round 315 to finish the tournament at 80-over par 932. Centenary, also sixth after Monday's play, shot a 316 in round one and a 301 in round two. 

Junior Richard Polan (Brno, Czech Republic) finished as the individual runner-up at the Pinecrest Invitational, finishing at 1-under par 212 and three shots behind individual champion Zhao Yung Gu of Schreiner (4-under par 209). Polan, who held a share of the lead after one round and was up four shots after round two, shot a final-round 4-over 75.

Centenary sophomore Drew Bennett (Bossier City, La.) earned a top-10 finish as he shot a 15-over par 228 to tie for ninth place. Senior Harrison John (Lafayette, La.) shot a 29-over 242 to finish 36th, sophomore Ricky Blair (Bossier City, La.) finished 41st at 38-over 251, junior Devan Martin (Watson, La.) finished in 47th place at 58-over 271 and freshman Tyler Jones (Stonewall, La.) finished 48th at 68-over 281.

The Gents' lineup this week will be Polan, Bennett, John, Blair, and Martin. Jones and senior Mitchell Lulich (New Orleans, La.) will play as individuals.

Centenary freshman Kiley Smith (Fort Worth, Texas) recorded the Ladies' top finish of the tournament as she placed 13th at +35 – 179. She shot an 18-over par 90 in Monday's first round and followed that with a final round 89. Senior Abigail Hayes (Plano, Texas) shot a final-round 96 to finish 20th, marking her 10th top-25 career finish and has now done so in seven of her last eight tournaments. She finished in the top 25 in all five tournaments that she played in last season. Hayes shot a 25-over 97 in Monday's first round. Sophomore Madison Wing (Shreveport, La.) shot 111-110 – 221 (+77) to finish 26th and senior Lindsay Strohm (McKinney, Texas) shot 121-101 – 222 (+78) to finish 27th.

Smith, Hayes, Wing, and Strohm will again be the Ladies' four participants this week.
