Flowood, Miss. – The Centenary men's and women's swimming teams will begin their 2019-20 seasons on Friday with a dual meet against Millsaps scheduled for 4 p.m. at the University Wellness Center – Lakeland in Flowood outside of Jackson, Miss.

The meet will be the first hosted by Millsaps in program history as swimming was recently added as a sport by the Majors. The Ladies and Gents each finished fourth at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championships last February in San Antonio in their last action.

"We're excited to start competition," said Centenary head coach Butch Jordan, who enters his 19th season at the helm of the program.

The list of accomplishments and accolades during Jordan's 18 years are impressive. Between the Ladies and Gents, Centenary has amassed 15 individual and five relay conference champions, 113 All-Conference individual and 28 All-Conference relay performances and 19 Mid Continent/Summit League/Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimmers of the Week, and a staggering 237 Academic All-Conference honorees.

Brad Langford begins his first season as an assistant coach for the Centenary men's and women's swimming program for the 2019-20 season. Langford comes to Centenary from the Hillsborough Aquatic Club in Hillsborough, NC where he coached last season.

"I am very excited to have Brad come aboard the swim program," said head coach Butch Jordan.  "He is a very enthusiastic coach that will bring a bunch of energy to the deck.  He has a great background in swimming both as a competitor and as a coach and I really like that he has been involved in several different styles of coaching over the course of his competitive and coaching career.  He will bring some fresh new ideas to our program.

Three swimmers still hold top-5 times in the history of the SCAC Championships through the 2018-19 season: Ross Olivier for the Gents in 2013 (200 backstroke, 1:49.86) and Rachel Olson in 2014 (200 butterfly, 2:06.02) hold the second-fastest times while Rachel Olson in the 200 IM in 2014 (2:07.16) touched the wall in the fourth-fastest time.
