Ladies Look To Extend Season-High Winning Streak On Friday

Shreveport – The Centenary softball team aims to extend its season-best winning streak to five games as the Ladies face the Austin College 'Roos in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the Centenary Softball Complex.

The series is scheduled to conclude on Sunday with a doubleheader at Noon and 2 p.m. The potential for inclement weather on Saturday forced a change in the weekend schedule as the series opener was originally scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. but the decision was made to play it on Friday instead.

The Ladies (11-19, 6-6 SCAC) completed a three-game sweep of the University of Dallas Crusaders last weekend on the road to extend their season-best winning streak to four and get back to .500 in conference play. Austin College (7-20, 3-9 SCAC) enters Friday's action losers of 14 games in a row and is 5-13 in road games this season.

The Ladies enter the weekend hitting .303 as a team with a .366 on-base percentage and a .402 slugging %. The Maroon and White have hit eight home runs and have 58 extra-base hits and 45 stolen bases. Centenary is ranked in the top five in the conference in batting average, hits, doubles, triples, slugging %, total bases, home runs, RBI, and runs scored. Centenary's pitching staff ranks third in the conference with a 4.08 team ERA.

Senior LF/SS Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) is the Ladies' leading hitter as she ranks in a tie for eighth in the conference with a .400 batting average. She has a .441 OBP and is slugging .589 with a team-high 38 hits. She is tied for the team lead in RBI with 20, is the leader in doubles with nine, second on the team in triples with three, and tied for third in homers with one. Patridge has seven stolen bases in eight attempts, scored 14 runs, and in 95 at-bats she has struck out only six times compared to five walks. Her 38 hits are tied for the second-most in the conference and she has 11 multi-hit games this season including four with three or more hits. In the sweep last weekend at Dallas, Patridge went 9-15 (.600) with four runs scored, four RBI, three stolen bases, a double, and a triple.

Sophomore P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) anchors the Ladies' pitching staff as she is 6-8 with a 3.74 ERA and a team-high eight complete games. In 18 appearances and 16 starts (both lead the team), she has pitched a team-high 93.2 innings and struck out 39 while only walking 14. She leads the conference in IP, is seventh in ERA, fifth in K's, and sixth in wins. Freshman P Alexis Roach (Pineville, La.) is 3-3 with a 4.64 ERA and three CG's. She has made 11 appearances and 10 starts and thrown 51.1 innings and struck out 20. Freshman Emma Crow (Krotz Springs, La.) is 2-2 with a 4.87 ERA. She has made 12 appearances and two starts. Freshman UT Abigail Hodgson (Georgetown, Texas) has made 11 appearances and two starts with the Ladies' only save. She is also hitting .360 (.448 OBP/.440 slugging) with nine hits, four RBI, two runs scored, and a pair of doubles.

Freshman 2B Catherine Stokes (Natchitoches, La.), freshman OF Sophie Vidrine (Eunice, La.), Hodgson, Sophomore C Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.), junior 1B Isabelle Dominguez (Newark, Calif.), and junior OF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) are all hitting .300 or better this season.

Freshman C/UT Jaeden Thrasher (Forney, Texas) currently leads the conference in runners caught stealing this season with 10 and has been a reliable offensive threat as well with 15 RBI, 16 hits, two home runs, seven doubles, and 10 runs scored. Senior CF Mallory Stout (Trinity, Texas) is the team leader in walks with 15 and is tied for fourth in the SCAC. Stout is hitting .250 with 21 hits, 19 runs scored, five RBI, a double, and four stolen bases. Both Stokes and Stout have perfect 1,000 fielding percentages so far this season.

Rivero is in the midst of an all-conference caliber season as she is tied for fifth in the league in home runs (4) and is eighth in slugging % (.533) and is tied for eighth in RBI (20). She is batting .344 with an OBP of .413. She has 31 hits, 20 runs, three doubles, and a triple. In 90 at-bats, she has only struck out 14 times compared to 11 walks. Rivero has eight multi-hit games, has hit for the cycle once, and has one multi-homer game. Cox, despite missing the last five games, still ranks second on the team in batting average (.365), first in runs scored (24), is third in hits (31), and third in RBI (12). Cox has four doubles, four triples, and is the team leader in stolen bases with 17 in 18 attempts. She ranks fifth in the SCAC and in the top 50 in the country in SB's.

The Ladies lead the all-time series with the 'Roos, 18-11 and have won 13 of 18 meetings between the two in Shreveport. Centenary aims to snap a three-game losing streak to Austin College after the 'Roos swept the Ladies in Sherman, Texas last season. AC won all three games by one run, including two in nine innings.
