SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Fifth-seeded and host Trinity University used a dominant pitching performance from Jordan Arce as she tossed a one-hit, eight strike out complete game shutout in the Tigers' 1-0 victory over fourth-seeded Centenary College in the opening round of the 2023 SCAC Softball Championship. HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Carsyn Lee doubled in the top of the fourth and then was lifted for a pinch runner in Sydney Watson.
  • Watson advacned to third on a wild pitch. Abigail Miller grounded out to shortstop for the second out.
  • Williams then delivered the game's only run with a single down the right field line that scored Watson. 
  • Arce was dominant in the pitcher's circle as she struck out eight and allowed just one hit over seven innings.

  • Trinity improved to 4-3 all-time against Centenary in the SCAC Softball Championship. The Tigers went 1-0 agains the Ladies at last year's tournament. 
  • Trinity improved to 13-27 on the season
  • Centenary saw its record fall to 17-23.

The Tigers will move on to face top-seeded Texas Lutheran University later today at 4 p.m. Meanwhile, the Ladies will move into an elimination game against the loser of game 4 at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow.
